Abstract

"In this study the use of the long sitting test was judged as an indication of a dysfunction of the iliosacral joint, the test itself having been checked in an orthopedic experiment and approves to be statistically significant to define an iliosacral dysfunction.

A population of 120 people aged between 18 and 51 (average age 29) was subjected to two iliosacral mobility tests and divided into an experimental group (+test) and a control group (-test).
Both groups were then iliosacrally tested through the long sitting test, the Downing test and an osteopathic test.

The following observations were made:
In the orthopedic experiment pubis dysfunctions were not taken into account in the evaluation and test procedure.
Iliosacraldysfunction influence the hip joint rotation and the results of the Downing test.
From the extensive survey the osteopathic test and the long sitting test prove to be the most reliable ones; the long sitting test being at least as reliable as the other tests.
The therapeutical value of the long sitting test is mainly due to the fact that it is a functional and easily practicable test, in which the therapeutist has few or no interaction, this in contradistinction to the osteopathic test and the Downing test.
The long sitting test is objectively measurable, perceptible from the appearing difference in length of the lowest extremities of a unilateral iliosacral injury."
